Mole Checks

Changes in the appearance of a mole should always be looked at by a dermatologist.

Mole Checks

Mole checks allow our dermatologists to evaluate any changes in your moles. If you have a lot of moles, oddly shaped moles, or if you have a history of skin cancer, including melanoma, we want to see you. Melanoma is curable if caught early.

Moles are evaluated according to ABCDE: Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color, Diameter and Evolving size, shape, or color.

Early detection of melanoma can sometimes be tricky because the affected moles often look normal. At risk people also tend to have more abnormal looking moles in general. Once the mole check has been completed, we make recommendations on how to proceed, including if something should be biopsied. Skilled dermatology providers utilize precise and low impact biopsies, done right in the office.
